Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes…. it rains. Well tonight’s game had all three. River Ridge defeated Woodstock 7-2 but it took them 3 hours and twenty five minutes as the game endured a 1 hour rain/lightning delay in the 4th inning.
In the 1st inning, Woodstock got on the board first with a 2 RBI double from Hannah Forbes but that will be all the runs the Lady Wolverines could muster as junior hurler Sydney Osada(3-0; 0.82) pitched the remaining six innings with 0 runs crossing the plate. Osada finished game with 14 K, 2 BB, 5 H, and 2 ER.
Freshman Lily Bell and senior Becca Bray continued their hitting ways at the plate. Bell had 2 hits on the night while also drawing a walk. Bray had 2 base knocks that led to 2 RBI’s and in her last at bat, she earned a RBI on a bases loaded walk. Freshman Alexis “Nugget” Haehn had three quality at bats that led to her 2 singles and 2 runs being scored. Sophomores Elyse Navarro continued her season RBI streak of 3 games with a RBI sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning.
River Ridge (2-0;3-0) heads to Osborne HS on Saturday August 10 for a doubleheader at 10am and 12pm vs the Lady Cardinals.
