The Lady Knights suffered a setback Tuesday night as they lost a 9-8 heart breaker to the Eagles from Etowah. The deciding score crossed the line just as the horn sounded to end the game breaking an 8-8 tie. It was an exciting start as two County rivals kept trading goals to bring the game to a 4-4 time. However, the Lady Knights would score two unanswered goals to bring the score to 6-4 at the half.
The second was hotly contested as well in the early going. The Eagles scored a quick goal to close the gap to 6-5 but the Lady Knights would respond to bring the score to 8-5 with 16:29 remaining in the game. However, things would get rough from that point. The Eagles dominated possession over the last sixteen minutes only allowing the Lady Knights roughly three minutes of possession time. The Eagles would score four unanswered goals over the last sixteen minutes for the victory. They were able to tie the game at 8-8 with 2:21 remaining and then they hit the game winner as time expired. We are confident that our Lady Knights will bounce back on Thursday in their 7:30 contest against Campbell. It’s a double header evening with the Boys Lacrosse team so please come out to The Ridge and support your Knights.
