The Lady Knights Lacrosse program had a huge night Monday sweeping the Bulldogs from Forsyth Central. The Junior Varsity program pulled out an 8-7 victory in a thriller. The Varsity then followed with a thriller of their own coming from three goals down on two different occasions for the 13-12 victory. It was an exciting night for the program and we couldn’t be more happier for these young ladies. They never wavered and kept battling and kept answering when needed. Hannah Vecsey (4), Hailey Efel (3), and Jordan Pruitt (2) scored multiple goals on the evening with Zoe Nehrboss, Stephanie Willard, Nora Mansell, and Rylee Holland chipping in a goal each to help the cause.
The game was tied 6-6 at the half setting up an exciting second half for those in attendance. With roughly 15:00 to go in the game, the Lady Knights were facing a 10-7 deficit. Hailey Efel picked up a free position goal to make it 8-10 but the Bulldogs answered quickly to push the lead back to three, 8-11. Hannah Vecsey then hit a nice low sweeping shot and Hailey Efel followed with a sweet shot in traffic to close the deficit to 10-11. The Bulldogs weren’t going to go down easy and responded with another goal of their own to make it 10-12 in their favor. The Lady Knights would rally and score three unanswered goals for the 13-12 victory. Nora Mansell picked up a goal off the right side and Hannah Vecsey hit a critical free position shot to tie it all up at 12. Hailey Efel then found herself in a one-on-one battle and hit a nice spin move to pick up the game winning goal with a little over 3:00 to go. The Lady Knights still had to withstand a charge from the Bulldogs as Goal Keep Kyla Anderson picked up three huge saves to preserve the victory. She had a stellar night in goal as she recorded 13 saves. The Lady Knights return to home again on Wednesday, March 13th as the Varsity will get things started at 5:30 in a match-up with Sprayberry and the Junior Varsity will follow at 7:00 while taking on the Longhorns from Kell. It’s Chick-Fil-A night at The Ridge so come on out to support the Lady Knights and come hungry. GO KNIGHTS!!
